The Turanor

A great new technological invention that helps the world would be Planet Solar boat. This is a yacht that has solar panels all above that yacht so that it can absorb energy from the sun. Then makes it into its own energy and it maintains itself. This is a great improvement in boating because boats and ship produce a lot of methane gases that cause global warming. The name of the boat is the Turanor, and it was built by Knierim Yacht Club in Kiel, in Germany, it is a multi-hulled vessel carrying a large array of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels. The Turanor is also the world’s largest solar boat. The boat is nearly 102 feet long, almost 50 feet wide and standing 24-1/2 feet high (31 meters by 15 meters by 7.5 meters). It can run on its stored energy in the absence of sunlight for around three days at 7.5 knots, the speed of an average oil tanker. At slower speeds it could run for up to 15 days, according to its makers.

The yacht is sailed by two sailors the plan for the four sailors in the yacht is go around the world only using sustainable energy from the boat. The 34,000-mile journey will take the vessel across the Atlantic, the Panama Canal, the Pacific, the Indian Ocean and the Suez Canal to the Mediterranean over a scheduled 160 days. The Turanor is also the world’s largest solar boat. The challenge of this sale around the world is to chase the sun, so that they can have energy.

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

For my English class I was reading a book, the name of the book was Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. This is the second book of a trilogy. I have only read this one and the first one but I like this one better because it’s just the first one ever again but with more action. This book is about a girl Katniss that in the first book was chosen to fight to the death against 25 other kids between ages of 12 to 18. Since she had gone in the first book and survived with her lover pita, which wasn’t meant to happen because only one survives. This was much like the gladiators in Rome. The leaders of this horrible game took this as defiance, which was not good. So in the second book after she returns home and lives her life but then the 75th hunger games come around but, this time the leaders tried something new in which  they would have all the 75 winners of the other hunger games compete again including Katniss and pita. Also because Katniss defied the capitol or the leaders and didn’t get punished people wanted to rebel against the leaders or the rich guys.  This is also because the country is broken down into 12 districts and each district is set into a job like mining or fishing. If you want to know more about the book read it. I highly recommend the trilogy.

The Bean Bag Sled

A great new invention you should maybe buy for your kids or for yourself would be Bean Bag Sled. This is a great cool and new invention that is great and fun to use. This is also a great time to buy it or use it because we are in winter time across most of the globe. There is also lots of snow. Let me describe the sled for you, it is basically a bean bag. This great new sled costs about $299.95, a bit expensive for a slab but worth it because it has beans in it, which makes a soft landing when jumping. If you have a kid I would recommend it because it is safe.

The Bean Bag Sled is a soft-riding winter runner that's built around a tube-shaped bean bag. It Measures 63 x 15 x 13.25 inches, and it can handle high-speed downhill runs for riders up to 220 lbs. or about 110 Kgs. The sled has a strap attached through two D-rings on each of the front corners that let you hold on for balance, with turns accomplished by simply leaning to either side. The sled is made out of out of double-stitched PVC-coated polyester, with the bottom mesh decked in double-coated PVC for sliding through all that packed snow. Inside, it uses an inflatable air bladder (which you'll needs to be hand-pump) surrounded by thousands of those 2-mm polystyrene spheres they use in your Modular Bean Bag. The polyester is great because it doesn’t break because of the hard snow nor do the beans fall out.

The Electric Paper Airplane Conversion Kit

Were you ever once a kid and like to throw paper airplanes perhaps you still like to do that. Well now I just got the coolest invention for you. This new invention is called Electric Paper Airplane Conversion Kit which makes your paper air plane last longer in the air. For instance when you threw the paper airplane it would only last about five seconds in the air and it would not be so fun. This conversion kit measuring 18.5 centimeters long, the stem device clips onto the front of the paper aircraft, adding a propeller right on the plane's tail to send it flying through the air.  The onboard charge can get those blades spinning for up to 90 seconds in a single charge, keeping your paper plane airborne for a lot longer than usual. The conversion kit is a slim stick that has a charging port on one end and the propeller on the other, it is made out of fiber so it wouldn’t weigh a lot when on the aircraft. To charge your conversion kit you need 3 AA batteries in the battery pack for only 20 seconds. The only bad side to this great invention is that you can’t control the planes direction for the entire 90 seconds. The plane would more likely fall down in an indoor environment than an outside, but after the 90 seconds are over you would have to run after the plane. Compared to remote control airplanes, it has no match but it only consists of two things paper and the conversion kit. This electric kit costs $ 20.

The Medical Mirror

How would you check person vital signs? You would do this attaching sensors to the body or doing it manually by counting your pulse per minute or heart rate per minute. Well if you’re wondering if there is an easier way to do this, the answer is yes, it is a medical mirror. A Student in the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology program is working on a system that could measure these health indicators just by putting a person in front of a low-cost camera such as a laptop computer’s built-in webcam. The students name was Ming-Zher Poh. The system measures slight variations in brightness produced by the flow of blood through blood vessels in the face. Or put it this way the webcam in a monitor behind the two-way mirror captures the changes in the light reflected off the persons’ face when the heart beats. The computer translates the light data into a heart rate reading. It was preferably built into a bathroom mirror so that patients who need ongoing monitoring, or just people who want to keep track of their own health, could get pulse, respiration, oxygen saturation and blood-pressure readings routinely while they brush their teeth or wash up, all of this signs are displayed by the corner of the mirror and it only requires you to look at the camera in the mirror. Poh tested the medical mirror for how accurate it could be, it was said to be near perfect.

Kymera Motorized Body Board

For my second blog I will be talking about a motorized body board, it is called the Kymera motorized body board. This body board was invented by Jason woods, which his idea came to mind first when he found that transporting and storing a 16 foot boat was an expensive difficulty, he wanted something that he could take from home at any time and toss it in the water, without the hassle of transporting a big machine for just one day of fun.  You are maybe asking yourself how he built this amazing machine. Jason woods studied at Napa’s New Technology high school where he learned to build his own rockets and built battle ready robots, and then he realized that he could build a compact body board with its own motor to go around the lake or river.

You may be asking yourself how it works. Well it expels water to create a thrust and which diverts a small amount of water to cool the engine. The body board may travel up to 15 miles per hour. The Kymera also involves carbon fiber and handle bars to hold on to. Apparently there is a new motorized body board being built which will use hybrid electric propane four stroke engines that will reach up to 25 miles per hour. This invention costs about $40,000, but Jason woods basic model could sell for $1,000.

Welcome to My Blog

For my English 9 class I have been asked to write an introduction to my blog. For starters I am in night grade, in an international school in Venezuela, Caracas.  I am a bit chubby and an average height; I’m tan and have brown hair, with brown eyes. I was born in Venezuela and raised there also. I play a little sport mostly soccer and tennis, but in my P.E. class we do all types of sports. I like to watch a lot of films, but also I like series mostly action and comedies. I have a dog which his name is napoleon, his small and has black fur he is a poodle.

What I plan to write in this blog is about new technology in the world. This would include cool gadgets, cars anything that is new to world and is also interesting at the same time. For example if there is like a new stereo that is really good and sounds very well I might be talking about here. I I’ll try to write as frequently as I can, when I find a cool gadget I like and find interesting I will be posting if there’s a new invention that I haven’t seen or heard of pleas contact me on my email. The email is my profile in the blog. I will be posting anytime soon when I get a chance, be on the watch out for new things in the world.
